Occupation & placement were compiled from each season's Wikipedia article, cross-checked against fan trackers (Gold Derby, Survivor Fandom, Parade). Occupations reflect the profession each contestant was known by on the show; where a season's table listed no occupation, a well-documented value was used.
Education years are ESTIMATES, not documented degrees. Survivor does not publish contestants' education. Years are inferred from occupation on this scale (years of formal schooling counted from grade 1):
These are population-level approximations for comparison, not claims about any individual. "Sole Survivor" placements are rank 1; co-runners-up in a few Final-3 seasons are shown as a shared 2nd/3rd.
Season 50 (In the Hands of the Fans, a 24-returning-player anniversary season) is excluded — it is airing in 2026 with no final result, and every player already appears in the dataset from an earlier season.
Bar height = mean estimated education years for that season's cast. Color = whether a fire-making challenge decided the finalists.
Fire-building as a way to decide who reaches the end. It was never a finale mechanic in the early years; from Heroes v Healers v Hustlers (S35, 2017) onward, a mandatory Final-4 fire-making challenge decides the last spot in the Final 3.

Of 757 unique people, most played once. 100 came back for 2+ seasons and 66 have turned up on at least one other reality/competition show. "Other shows" reflects documented, notable crossovers (see caveat) — not an exhaustive audit of every TV appearance.
Crossovers were compiled by pulling the cast lists of shows Survivor players most often appear on (The Amazing Race, The Challenge / Challenge: USA, The Traitors US, Deal or No Deal Island, Big Brother, House of Villains, Special Forces, Snake in the Grass, Battle of the Network Reality Stars, Beast Games, Squid Game: The Challenge, Celebrity Fear Factor, Australian Survivor, and more) and matching names back to this dataset. It captures the well-documented crossovers but is not guaranteed exhaustive. Appearances counted are as a competitor (hosting-only or "loved one" cameos excluded); only U.S. Survivor alumni are counted.
